Monthly Australian consumer confidence -2.4% m/m (previously -1.8%)
The Westpac monthly measure of Australian consumer confidence for April stood at 82.4.
WPAC comment:
- below 100 for over two years
- “Outside of the deep recession of the early 1990s, this is by far the second longest period of deep consumer pessimism since we began our survey in the mid-1970s.”

Earlier in the release of the ANZ-Roy Morgan Australian Consumer Confidence Index, this is a weekly survey:
Arrived at 81.9
It has remained below 85 points for a record 62 weeks, which is even worse than during the 1990s recession.
The question on inflation expectations in this survey saw this rise increase,
- +0.1% over the week at 5.3%
ANZ citing rising petrol prices.
