Moment football fans turn the sky red in London as flares and fireworks are set off in the streets, apparently to mark a crucial football clash.

The sky above Finsbury Park in London turned an eerie red on Sunday evening, as a crowd of dozens of people marched through the streets while chanting and throwing flares and fireworks.

Videos posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, show a crowd in good spirits and surrounded by rising smoke from flares.

Speculation was rife on social media as to the reason for this unusual and noisy display.

Some suggested they may have been Belarusian separatists, given that they were waving red and white flags.

However, others were quick to point out that the red and white flags may simply be signaling support for the colors of CR Belouizdad, an Algerian football team that plays in red and white.
