Thinking Machines LAB, a new company created by Mira Murati, the former OPENAI technology director, came out of Stealth on Tuesday.
In a blog article, the startup has positioned itself as a research laboratory on artificial intelligence and products focused on reinforcement of these more accessible systems.
“To fill the gaps, we build the laboratory of thinking machines to make the AI systems more understood, customizable and generally capable,” wrote Murati.
From the moment Murati moved away from Openai, the venture capital began to go around the machine Learning Maven, in the running to be among the first to offer checks to his new company.
In a few months, Murati brought together a team of researchers and engineers from Meta, Openai, Anthropic and other technological goliaths. The company brings together several of the former colleagues in Murati, including John Schulman, who co-directed the creation of Chatgpt; Jonathan Lachman, former special project manager in Openai; And Alexander Kirillov, who worked in close collaboration with Murati in the vocal mode of Chatgpt.
In the position, Murati said that the startup “would focus on human-Ai collaboration” and “build multimodal systems that work with people in collaboration”. She also said that the startup would contribute to AI security by “retaining a high security bar” which prevents the abusive use of the published models of the company, sharing best practices on how to build systems of ‘Sure and add to external security research.
