Mint Butterfield, 16, former Slack CEO, returns home after police search

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office announced in an April 28 news release that the night before, the teen had been “located safely in San Francisco,” about an hour from his home in Bolinas, Calif., where he was last seen on April 21. said detectives confirmed the teen “voluntarily ran away from home” and “returned to the custody of his family.”

San Francisco police found Mint in a white van belonging to a 26-year-old man, who was later arrested on suspicion of child kidnapping.

“Through this investigation, detectives learned that Mint may have been associated with an adult friend, identified as Christopher “Kio” Dizefalo, a 26-year-old man from San Francisco,” the release said. “A vehicle associated with Dizefalo was identified as a white pickup truck. This van was located in San Francisco, and Dizefalo and Mint were allegedly inside. SFPD officers contacted the van and its occupants and located a Mint safe inside.”
