A trio of Minnesotans who previously directed reform efforts in twin cities after the murder of George Floyd now rally the buyers upset by the decline of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts by Target.
Nekima Levy-Armstrong, Jaylani Hussein and Monique Cullars-Doty hold a press conference outside the city center of the city center of Minneapolis Thursday morning and plan to call a boycott. In an article on Facebook, they wrote: “All those who are concerned about Target’s decision to bow before the incompatible dictates and contrary to the ethics of the Trump administration are welcome to join us and stand in solidarity.”
Target refused to comment on Wednesday before the press conference.
Levy-Armstrong said that she was asking a question on Facebook that has collected nearly 500 answers stimulated the idea of a press conference. There, she heard several previously loyal target customers who cut their Target Circle cards, canceled their Shippt subscriptions, removed the Target application and limited purchases, if not arrested, all purchases made from the retailer.
They came in the wake of the Trump administration’s push to end the Dei programs. In a memo on January 21, the staff management office ordered agencies to place the employees of the DEI office on leave and to delete all the public web pages centered on the Dei.
