Min Woo Lee holds Scottie Scheffler, Gary Woodland in Houston to win the first PGA Tour PGA title

Houston – Min Woo Lee kept his calm in the middle of immense accusations of Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland, winning the Texas Children’s Houston Open Sunday for his first PGA Tour title with the best lag of his life which set up a last peer for a victory at a time.

Lee leaned and hugged his fists several times when his 55-foot putt settled a few centimeters from the cup on the 18th hole, leaving him a tap-in with a 3-mine of 67. He finished 20 under 260, breaking the tournament record for four shots.

“It’s difficult – it’s really difficult,” said Lee. “Obviously, Scottie is a wonderful golfer and he keeps you on your guard. The first time I am opposite, I’m happy to have done it. I am very exhausted. It was a lot of mental grind. I am so proud of the way I manipulated myself.”

Each shot had the impression after Lee made a bad swing to do what looked like a turn of the very stressful Sunday promenade. He led by five shots on his new back until Woodland, who played his last four holes in 4 sous to equalize the record of the Memorial Park course with a 62, made his charge.

Scheffler, during his last departure before defending his title of Masters, got rid of four consecutive Birdies to embark on a blow until his iron at 7 on the 18th hole reaches about 25 meters from the spit. He dismissed a few feet for the peer and a 63.

Lee was still in control until he cuts his TEE shot on the 16th of the Par-5 in the water, having to strike his third from the tee and go well to two putt from 40 feet for Bogey. This ended 41 consecutive holes without Bogey, and dropped his advance to a shot with two to play.

Lee failed well on the left on the 18th – not a problem because Memorial Park has a minimum of harsh – and his approach went just over the back of green. He chose to put instead of chip, and it worked near perfection.

Woodland was on the range, looking on his phone. It was his best finish since he underwent brain surgery to eliminate a tumor in September 2023. This is the last year of his exemption from winning the 2019 US Open in Pebble Beach, and the finalist will serve it well.

Here’s how the $ 9.5 million handbag was poured into Texas Children’s Houston Open.

Scheffler was in the rating area while watching Lee win the victory. He looked at his shopping cart and laughs. He closed with a 63 and could not have done much more.

“I’m just trying to put as much pressure on Min Woo as possible,” said Scheffler. “I hoped to be able to do this on the first nine. I couldn’t get rid of a good start. And he played a very good golf course. I think he made a mistake on 16, but I think he did very good things there and he just got out and beat us this week.”

Lee, 26, whose older sister Minjee Lee is a major champion of the LPGA tour, had won three times on the European tour and once on the Asian tour. He became the fifth player this year to win for the first time on the PGA Tour.

Sami Valimaki of Finland also equaled the record for the 62 tournament and finished fourth.

McILroy drew 64 under 64 Sunday at the Memorial Park and will only play in control in two weeks.

Rory McILroy pulled 64, with bogeys at the start and at the end of his last round before the Masters. He equaled fifth place and had returned home to get the final touch to his game before going to Augusta National to try to finish the big career.

The other battle on the route took place between Michael Kim and Ben Griffin, both trying to move in the top 50 in the world ranking and win a place in the Masters. Kim made a 6 -foot putt on his last hole for a 69 to be equalized for 32nd, allowing him to go to n ° 50 by the thinnest or the margins on Griffin. The difference in their average points of two years was 0.2.

Lee was already in the Masters to be in the top 50 at the end of last year. Now he has a PGA Tour title, preparing him for the rest of the signing events of $ 20 million this year.

“Everyone here knows how talented the kid is an absolute stallion,” said Woodland. “We all know that once you have pierced for him, Sky is the limit, if really happy for him. For me, it was great to run these juices again, just to see some results.”
