Mikel Arteta said he had a head-to-head meeting with Myles Lewis-Skelly on Friday to openly discuss his temerity after escaping a second yellow card in the 7-1 refreshment of Arsenal of the PSV Eindhoven.
The 18-year-old was substituted just a few minutes after committing an unborn challenge on Richard Ledezma in the first half on Tuesday, when he was on a yellow card, which should probably have seen the full back to be sent.
This is not the first time that Lewis -Skelly has flouted the line, after the red cards against Wolves and West Ham – although his Wolves dismissal was canceled by the FA on appeal.
Before Arsenal’s Premier League match against Manchester United tomorrow, Arteta said: “It was today (Friday) that I did it (talking to the head with Lewis-Skelly). When the dust has settled and (we can) speak openly.
“What can we learn from this situation?” How can we exhibit the team? What are the things we have to try to avoid without losing its essence that your colleague was talking about?
“And that’s what we have to do – understand where this line is. Because he is a superb player.

“I think it was clear that we had a responsibility there, with the yellow card and the next action.

So yes, a lesson to learn from him, that’s for sure. We will support and help him. But the line is really thin in sport, and it must understand this.
