Mike White, the acclaimed screenwriter, creator of the hit series HBO “The White Lotus” and the reality show, veteran of the show, will return to “Survivor” for his 50th season.
The animator “Survivor” Jeff Probst announced the return of White On “CBS Mornings” on Wednesday.
“Between writing and making” White Lotus “seasons, Mike White is back,” said Probst.
White appeared for the first time on “Survivor” in 2018, during the 37th season of the show, and lasted on the island for 39 days, ending in second place. Although “The White Lotus” was not presented in first until three years later (White said that the show, a series of acerbic anthology which takes place in a chain of exotic hotels, was partly inspired by her observations while she was on “Survivor”), he was already a renowned filmmaker, after writing the film “School of Rock” and created the HBO series.
Designed and filmed during the cocovated pandemic, “The White Lotus” has become a success for HBO and has catapulted white at a new level of renown. He won the Emmy Awards for writing and realizing in the limited categories of the series or anthology for the first season of the show. The final of the third season – which was broadcast this spring and played Parker Posey, Carrie Coon and Walton Goggins – was monitored by more than six million viewers.
Before “Survivor”, White competed on “The Amazing Race” with his father in 2009 and again in 2011. An interview in 2021 with the New Yorker, He attributed his love of reality TV to his ability to distill true human behavior and conflicts.
“For me, as a theater writer, I aspire to do what reality TV is already doing,” he said. “To create surprising and dimensional characters and do weird stuff” and “capture your attention”.
The 50th season of “Survivor”, which is expected to be broadcast in 2026, will show off several members of the return distribution, including a competitor of season 1, Jenna Lewis-Dougherty, and the CIRIE Fields and Ozzy LUSTH competing fivefolds. The shooting should take place this summer.
