It appears there will be at least one holdover on Mike Vrabel’s coaching staff next season.
The New England Patriots are retaining special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Monday.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss wrote Sunday that “momentum seemed to be building” in favor of Vrabel retaining Springer.
Springer spent the 2024 campaign in New England after being hired by recently fired head coach Jerod Mayo.
Springer, energetic and enthusiastic, was arguably the best coordinator the Patriots had to offer last season, described as Rapoport referring to New England’s special teams ranking second in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus.

The fact that Springer had top assistant Tom Quinn on his staff probably helped as well. Vrabel worked with Quinn during his tenure with the Tennessee Titans.
