Mike Tyson vows to make lifestyle change to become ‘nasty’ for Jake Paul fight

Mike Tyson intends to take his fight with Jake Paul seriously.

The heavyweight legend has been posting regular training footage as he prepares to take on YouTube star Paul on July 20, although he is set to step into the ring at 58.

Concerns have been raised over the health of the former undisputed world champion, who regularly smokes cannabis and was seen using a cane just months ago.

And in a bid to ensure he’s in tip-top physical condition, Tyson suggested he considers stopping using cannabis.

He was asked why he smoked during an interview, to which he replied: “I don’t know, maybe it has something to do with my tripolar tendencies or something.

“But I don’t think I’m going to smoke for this fight. I think I’m going to be very irritable and mean.”

Tyson was then asked if he would accept his edible ear candy, and he added: “Normally I do, but for this particular fight I think I’m going to go pretty raw and naked.”

Tyson owns a cannabis empire in the United States, which reportedly generates revenues of around $500,000 per month, including from his 40-acre ranch in California.

The boxing icon also launched cannabis edibles alongside bitter rival Evander Holyfield, fashioned in homage to the famous ear biting incident during their rematch.

During his last exhibition with Roy Jones Jr in 2020, Tyson admitted to smoking cannabis during preparation, to the surprise of many.

But he hopes to prepare sufficiently for his next clash against YouTube personality Paul, who will be 31 years his junior.

Both men drew widespread criticism for agreeing to the fight, given that Tyson received health warnings from concerned medical officials.

But he posted footage from his training camp with cornerman Rafael Cordeiro in a bid to prove his fitness.

He also hit back at critics, insisting they are “jealous” of the event, for which he stands to pocket a cool $20 million purse.

Tyson’s professional career ended in 2005 after three defeats in his last four outings, and he hopes not to end his journey in the sport with another damaging blow delivered by Paul.
