Mike Perry insists Jake Paul’s purse is ‘nothing crazy’ after rejecting Mike Tyson undercard fight because pay was ‘too low’

Mike Perry says his purse for his upcoming clash with Jake Paul perfectly matches what he earns at BKFC.

“Platinum,” who is 5-0 with the bare-knuckle boxing promotion, pocketed $600,000 for his first-round demolition of Thiago Alves in April.

Meanwhile, his highest salary in the organization is $1.1 million which he received for his clash with former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez last December .

The hope of a fight with Paul – one of the biggest names in combat sports – is that the money would be life-changing.

But when Michael Bisping asked if that was the case during an interview on his YouTube channel, Perry replied: “It’s not bad. That’s exactly what’s happening with BKFC. Nothing crazy.”

Although his wallet could see a nice boost if the DAZN pay-per-view sells well.

“It depends, there are a lot of streamers,” he added. “I hope the pay-per-view works well and people buy the show because DAZN is a little expensive sometimes.

“But we work for this money, so buy the event and I’ll give you the fight you want to see, I’ll do it regardless.

“The money is there with BKFC with me and I have already established myself and my family.

“Now I can have fun, now I can enjoy the fight, put on a show and try to be the best ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry the world has ever seen.”

Perry is scheduled to face Paul on July 20 at Amalie Arena in Tampa – the same date the YouTube star was booked to box Mike Tyson.

However, Paul-Tyson was rescheduled for November 15 after the boxing legend was deemed medically unfit to compete in July following an ulcer flare-up.

Perry was first approached to box on Paul and Tyson’s undercard on July 20 in a fight against former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, although he turned down the opportunity as the salary was ” too low “.

“There were some things on the table with that, and the pay wasn’t amazing, especially considering the opponent,” Perry told The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

Old footage emerges of Jake Paul fighting Mike Perry, leaving fans shocked

“I was like oh, I’m interested in being on the Mike Tyson Netflix card to get that exposure against this certified professional boxer.

“But money and there was another option and I could only choose one.

“It felt like there was another option to have more money, and maybe open more doors, and there are incentives involved, I thought that would be more interesting.

“It (fighting Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.) would have been cool, but (it’s not happening).”

Following Perry’s rejection, former UFC welterweight title challenger Darren Till was chosen to face Chavez Jr.
