Mike Pence on CNN town hall rips Trump as wrong on Ukraine

Former Vice President Mike Pence disagrees with former boss, former President Donald Trump, on the war between Ukraine and Russia.

“Frankly, when Vladimir Putin arrived in Ukraine, the former president called him a genius,” Mr. Pence said in a public meeting on CNN on Wednesday.

“I know the difference between a genius and a war criminal, and I know who has to win in the war in Ukraine and it is the people who are fighting for their freedom and who are fighting to restore their national sovereignty in Ukraine”, did he declare.

“This is not our war, but freedom is our fight,” Pence concluded.

US involvement in the war in Ukraine is proving to be an early dividing line in the GOP primary race.

Mr Trump has warned of the nation’s increased involvement in the war in Ukraine, saying taxpayers’ money is better spent at home.

Mr. Pence argues that the United States must help promote democracy around the world.
