“Mike Johnson’s presidency is over!” » Marjorie Taylor Greene Details Plan to OUST President for Betraying GOP Voters as Colleagues Mock ‘Moscow Marjorie’

  • Greene filed a motion to vacate the chair in March, but did not follow through on her plan.
  • Currently, three House Republicans support efforts to oust Johnson
  • Republicans are angry at Johnson for working with Democrats to provide more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Sunday detailed her plan to oust Speaker Mike Johnson for advancing legislation to help fund Ukraine, declaring his presidency “over.”

“Mike Johnson’s term is over, but he needs to do the right thing to step down and allow us to move forward in a controlled process,” Greene said in an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo. “If he doesn’t, he will be released.”

Greene did not offer a detailed timeline for her plan to oust Johnson, but said she looked forward to three upcoming special elections that would strengthen the Republican majority.

“This will happen regardless of what Mike Johnson decides, and three more Republicans will join us for a special election that will take place very soon,” she said. “So people need to know that this can happen.”

California holds a special election in May to fill McCarthy’s seat and Ohio and Colorado hold special elections in June.

The bill offering more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine passed Saturday, winning the support of 101 House Republicans while 112 voted against it.

Democrats unanimously supported the bill.

Greene filed a motion to vacate the chair in March, but made no progress in her effort to oust Johnson as speaker. Republican Reps. Paul Gosar of Arizona and Thomas Massie of Kentucky expressed support.

Greene said Johnson betrayed his Republican base by working with Democrats to help pass FISA and failed to leverage the fight against aid to Ukraine to secure the southern border.

“He has completely betrayed Republican voters across the country, and he is absolutely working for Democrats, pigeonholing the Biden administration’s agenda,” she said.

Currently, Republicans in the House of Representatives are only one vote ahead of Democrats in the House of Representatives.

Johnson told reporters during the funding fight that he was not worried about efforts to remove him as president.

“I did what I thought was the right thing here,” Johnson said. “You do the right thing and let the chips fall where they may.”

House Republicans are terrified of another messy battle for speaker after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted in October, sparking 22 days of infighting until the party finally unites around Johnson to succeed him.

Greene’s insistence on blocking aid to Ukraine earned her the nickname “Marjorie of Moscow” from some of his House colleagues, because Russia would benefit if the United States fails to send more weapons and money to Ukraine.

Greene accused Republicans in Congress of failing to represent their constituents.

“The Republican Party in power now is no different from the Democratic Party. This is a great, united party that serves the world first and America last,” she said.
