When it comes to respect and admiration from other titans of the sports broadcasting industry, one thing about Mike Gorman is abundantly clear: He’s “Got it!” »
Kevin Harlan, Ian Eagle and Mike Breen paid tribute to Gorman during a tribute video the Celtics released Sunday before Gorman’s final regular-season game.
“It’s an honor to pay tribute to one of the greatest voices professional basketball has ever known,” said Harlan, alongside Reggie Miller. “And in what better market and part of the country than in Boston and New England, to honor the great Mike Gorman?”
Harlan said he always admired Gorman’s delivery, cadence, perspective and more. He called it an “absolutely incredible listen.” Miller responded, “We love you, Mike! »
Eagle noted that Gorman “set the standard” in the NBA when it comes to broadcasting. He said he was “stolen” from Gorman over the years and that everyone in the league always wanted to be like him.
“Beyond being the best broadcaster possible, you are as great a person as anyone could be,” Eagle said.
Breen went on to congratulate Gorman on one of the “most remarkable careers” in the industry. He thanked him for serving as a role model for him and so many others.
“Not just a role model because of your skills and talent as a man of the game, but also because of who you are as a man,” Breen said. “One of the true blessings of my life has been being able to tell people that Mike Gorman is my friend.”
