Columbia, SC (WIS) – A midlands child died of complications against flu, according to the Department of Public Health in South Carolina.
Linda Bell, state epidemiologist and director of DPH health programs, said that South Carolina had experienced a “generalized flu activity” and recommended that everyone will be vaccinated against flu.
“The same preventive methods that protect against COVID-19 also protect against flu: vaccination, masks and frequent hands,” said a DPH press release. “Staying away from others while patients are very important and prevents spread in our communities.”
During the week ending on January 18, there were more than 600 hospitalizations and 13 deaths linked to the flu.
