Microsoft is starting to integrate AI shortcuts, or what it calls AI actions, in the file explorer in Windows 11. These shortcuts allow you to click with the right-button on a file and quickly go to the Windows AI features such as the jamming of the background of a photo, the erasure of objects or even summarize the content from desktop files.
Four image actions are currently being tested in the latest construction channels of Windows 11, including Bing visual search to find similar images on the web, blurred background and the features of erased objects found in the photo application and the paint deletion option.
Microsoft also plans to soon test similar AI actions for Office files, allowing you to summarize the documents stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, or to quickly create lists generated by AI from files. These actions of the Office AI will be limited to Microsoft 365 commercial subscribers with a co -pilot license, and consumer support “arrives later”.
It is not clear if these AI actions can be deactivated in the context menu, but they also join an option “Ask Copilot” that Microsoft added to the right click of explorer of the files recently.
In addition to the shortcuts fed in AI in File Explorer, Microsoft also tests certain visual changes in the Widgets function in Windows 11, “with a more organized, personalized and engaging flow”, according to the Windows Insider team. “In addition, we introduce stories organized by the co -pilot in the flow.”
This latest version of Development Channel also includes a new functionality “User Interaction CPU Power Management”, which Microsoft describes as a change in OS to reduce energy consumption on laptops and tablets. “After a period of inactivity on your PC, Windows now retains power by automatically applying effective power management policies,” said Windows Insider team. “This happens perfectly to save energy while you are inactive, with full performance instantly restored when you return.”
