Microsoft Founder Give most of the fortune of $ 200 billion in Africa

Microsoft’s founder Bill Gates says that most of his fortune of $ 200 billion (150 billion pounds sterling) will be spent to improve health and education services in Africa over the next 20 years.

The 69 -year -old said that “by unleashing human potential through health and education, each African country should be on the path of prosperity”.

Speaking in the capital of Addis Ababa Ethiopia, he also urged young Africa innovators to think about how to build artificial intelligence (AI) to improve health care on the continent.

Doors announced last month that he would give 99% of his vast fortune by 2045, when his foundation planned to end his operations.

“I recently made the commitment that my wealth will be given over the next 20 years. The majority of this funding will be spent to help you meet the challenges here in Africa,” he said in an address at the headquarters of the African Union (AU).

The former first lady of Mozambique, Graça Machel, praised her announcement, saying that she came in a “moment of crisis”.

“We are counting on Mr. Gates’ unshakable commitment to continue to proceed to this transformation path by our side,” she said.

The American government has reduced assistance to Africa, including programs to treat HIV / AIDS patients, as part of the American president Donald Trump, which raises concerns about the future of health care on the continent.

Gates said that his foundation, which has a long history of operation in Africa, would focus on improving primary health care.

“What we have learned is that helping the mother to be healthy and to have great nutrition before getting pregnant, while she is pregnant, gives the strongest results,” he said.

“Ensure that the child receives good nutrition during his first four years also made all the difference.”

In a message to young innovators, the technological billionaire noted that mobile phones had revolutionized the bank in Africa and argued that AI should now be used for the continent’s benefit.

“Africa has largely jumped traditional banking services and now you have a chance, while you build your next generation health systems, to think about how AI is integrated,” he said.

Gates underlined Rwanda as an example, saying that it already improves services using the AI compatible ultrasound to identify high -risk pregnancies.

The Gates foundation said it had three priorities: to end the avoidable deaths of mothers and babies, ensuring that the next generation grows without having to suffer from deadly infectious diseases and to raise millions of people from poverty.

“After 20 years, the foundation will sleep its operations,” he said in a statement.

Last month, Gates said he would accelerate his donations via his foundation.

“People will say a lot about me when I die, but I am determined that” he died rich “will not be one of them” ” He wrote in a blog article.

According to Bloomberg, offering 99% of his fortune could still leave the fifth richest person in the world.

With Paul Allen, Gates founded Microsoft in 1975, and society quickly became a dominant force in software and other technological industries.

Gates has gradually fell from the company in recent decades, resigning from its general manager in 2000 and president in 2014.

He said he was inspired to give money by investor Warren Buffett and other philanthropes.

However, criticisms of its foundation say that Gates uses its charitable status to avoid taxes and that it has an undue influence on the global health system.
