Yesterday, Microsoft launched its annual conference on the developers with, without surprise, a series of AI features, models and capacities that it brings to its own systems, many of which for developers will also be able to take advantage of.
Although some are very specific to Microsoft’s ecosystem, there were quite a few that would undoubtedly be an excellent addition to the native Apple’s native offers, each time they materialize.
# 1: Access to AI models in Disvise via Edge
A new API set will allow developers to access the Phi-4 Phi-4 model of $ 3.8 billion built directly in the Edge browser, from their websites or extensions. As Microsoft explains:
APIs AI include the rapid API for the APIs of invitation and easy writing assistance to generate, summarize and modify text, which are available in the Edge and Dev Canaries today. Soon, the translator’s API will join this suite, allowing text translations
In addition, it has introduced a PDF translation function to Edge, which will allow users to easily convert whole documents into their favorite language.
# 2: a coding agent
Last year, Apple announced Swift Assist, the company’s response to the fantastic Github co -pilot feature. Appleās promise was an AI tool in Xcode that would help developers rationalize their coding with up -to -date Swift and SDK knowledge.
A year later, Swift Assist is still a promise. Github Copilot, on the other hand, has evolved by many.
Last Monday, Microsoft announced a new coding agent for Github Copilot, and the way it works is quite interesting: the agent is assigned a problem on Github, as a human colleague would do. He then continues to clone the repository on a virtual machine, retains a journal of his reasoning process because he modifies the code and signals it for a human review.
Although he cannot code an entire complex application AgainThis is the kind of thing that reduces the entrance barrier for the development of applications, which Apple has always said. Not only that, but it can shave hours or even work days for the most experienced developers.
Management of the context protocol of model # 3 (MCP)
I recently wrote about it, but the news of yesterday according to which Microsoft will natively adopt the MCP of Anthropic shows that this protocol really becomes the norm of the industry for interconnectivity between AI models and platforms or systems.
With this integration, AI agents will be securely (according to Microsoft, will have) access the basic Windows features such as the file system, which will facilitate much more intuitive and automated functions in applications.
Essentially, this will allow AI models to interact directly with the system and the installed applications, which is dangerous as and when. But just as promising.
Microsoft claims that this support will initially be published to selected developers, which is a good idea given how it searched with the deployment of Windows recall.
Do you think we could see this kind of ad at WWDC 2025 next month? If you are a developer, what type of AI support would you like you to take advantage of Apple operating systems? Let us know in the comments.
