Mick Jagger has been hired for “two or three years”

Following a rather emblematic meeting that involved behind the scenes of a Rolling Stones concert in Tokyo, Mick Jagger and his longtime girlfriend Melanie Hamrick are officially engaged. The retired ballerina confirmed as much in an interview with Paris match.

“We were hired two or three years,” said Hamrick during the interview, which was conducted in French. As for a possible marriage? “Maybe one day we will get married, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything,”

Jagger and Hamrick have been together for 11 years and share a child together, a 7 year old son named Deveraux Octavian Basil. The pair has an age gap of 44 (Jagger is 81 years old, while Hamrick is 37 years old). From their relationship, Hamrick added: “We are trying to support each other, to be there for each other and to make sure that everyone is happy. This is all that matters to me and all that I am looking for.”

Hamrick’s confirmation of their commitment occurs about two years after People first asked her about a new diamond ring on that Finger, which she described with Timi as a “promise ring”.

“I mean, I have to laugh because Mick gave me the ring? Yes. Is that for this finger? Yes,” she said at the time. “But are we like, excited adolescents where we give ourselves … In my mind, it is a promise ring. We will be immature and call it a promise ring.”

In accordance with her current philosophy on marriage, she was just as indifferent to marriage as it is now. “I don’t know,” she told the publication about the knot. “I’m a bit like a person live at the moment, so who knows.”
