(CBS DETROIT) — After weeks of record high gasoline prices, Michigan is seeing some relief.
According to AAA, gasoline prices in the Detroit metro area fell to $4.05 per gallon for regular gasoline as of Wednesday.

That’s about 12 cents cheaper than last week, but still $1.22 more than last year.

“A decrease in demand alongside higher gasoline inventories has resulted in lower prices at the pump,” Adrienne Woodland, spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group, said Monday. “If these trends continue as crude oil prices decline, motorists could likely see lower gasoline prices.”

The state average sits at $3.99 per gallon – cheaper than the national average of $4.16.
