Miami’s secondary, Adarius Hayes was injured on Saturday in a car accident that killed two children in his hometown of Largo, Florida, a spokesperson for the Largo police service said in ESPN on Sunday.
The information manager of the Largo police department, Megan Santo, confirmed that Hayes was involved in the accident. She did not say if Hayes led one of the cars involved in the wreckage.
The police responded to the accident around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. The police said that a Dodge Durango collided with a Kia’s soul, which was making a left turn. Police said alcohol would not be a factor in the accident.
Jabari Elijah Solomon, 10, and Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria, 4, were killed in the wreckage, according to the police from Largo. Several other people have been hospitalized for serious injuries.
“This is an ongoing and active survey, and no other information is available for publication,” Santo said in a statement.
Several Miami players gave prayers for Hayes on Twitter on Saturday, including the second Raul Aguirre.
Hayes played 12 games for the Hurricanes in the first year in 2024, mainly in special teams. He finished the season with four plated and an interception, which he returned 25 yards in the 56-9 Miami victory against Florida A&M on September 7.
