Mets place Tylor Megill on IL in another early rotation blow
It’s less than a week into the regular season and Tylor Megill is already the second member of the Mets’ starting rotation to reach the IL.
Megill was placed on the 15-day IL on Monday due to a right shoulder strain after being removed from his start at Citi Field on Sunday after four innings.
Right-hander Reed Garrett was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to take Megill’s place on the roster.
Megill joins Kodai Senga on the IL, with Senga sidelined due to a right shoulder capsule.
It’s the latest bad news for a Mets team that got off to a bad start, after being swept at home by the Brewers and with the undefeated Tigers coming to town.
Their offense also looked shaky, with key cogs Brandon Nimmo, Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil going 3-for-36 with one walk and seven strikeouts in the three losses.
