Mets’ Edwin Diaz ejected against Cubs after umpires check for sticky substance
Mets closer Edwin Diaz was thrown out without throwing a pitch.
Diaz’s hands were checked for the presence of an illegal substance in the top of the ninth inning as the Mets led the Cubs 5-2 at Wrigley Field on Sunday night.
The referees didn’t like what they found when Diaz was ejected and Drew Smith took his place in the match.
This is a developing story.
