“The civil construction works have already been completed and only small works are pending regarding its commissioning. So, for sure, the whole 37-kilometer line will be ready for operation in two months,” said the company’s Nalin Gupta, MD, in a chat with CNBC-TV18.
Earlier, in January, the Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) had estimated that the project would take about seven months.
Phase 2 of Line 2A (Dahisar East-DN Nagar-Andheri West) and Line 7 (Andheri-Dahisar East) will run parallel to the Western Express Highway and once the section is operational, commuters will be able to travel between Dahisar and Ghatkopar without having to leave metro stations.
Phase 1 of the two lines was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on April 2 and is currently operational.
