- Meta launched its text platform threads as an autonomous application in 2023.
- Before its launch, Meta created a game to detail the potential and the application strategy.
- The bridge was used as proof in the FTC antitrust trial against Meta.
An internal deck Meta reveals the original plans of the company for its textual platform threads and how it would compete X, formerly Twitter.
The bridge was revealed in court this month during Federal Trade Commission antitrust trial against Meta.
Meta officially launched threads in 2023 and 10 million users registered in its first seven hours, said meta-PDG Mark Zuckerberg.
Internally, the meta-employees presented threads like a better twitter.
“Twitter knows instability and can continue to weaken, although its network is solid and established,” said the game.
The initial objective of threads was to “build the most engaging online space for a public conversation, allow people to talk about their interests, meet on cultural moments and connect directly with the creators”, according to the game.
The launch strategy for threads, the draft code 92 or P92, included:
- Using what Meta has learned about social media from her other platforms to create a base for users, including sharing best practices for using the platform with users on the first day.
- Use of Instagram as a funnel to direct users to register. When launching, users can connect to threads with their existing Instagram connections.
- Presentation of innovative features as an integration of mastodon and other tools that could make the publication “Fresh and Fun”.
- Target the creators of Instagram to create a conversation which is less news and content focused on politics than what can already be found on X.
Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Business Insider.
