Meta to lay off more ‘low performers,’ says CEO Mark Zuckerberg

Meta is working to create some of the world’s most important technologies: Al, glasses as the next computing platform, and the future of social media. This is going to be an intense year and I want to make sure we have the best people on our teams.

I decided to raise the bar on performance management and weed out low-performing employees more quickly. We typically manage people who don’t meet expectations over the course of a year, but we will now make deeper reductions based on performance during this cycle – with the intention of filling these positions in 2025. We we won’t do it. manage all those who did not meet expectations in the last period if we are optimistic about their future performance, and for those we fire we will offer a generous severance package in line with what we have planned in previous cuts .

We will provide further guidance to managers ahead of calibrations. Affected individuals will be notified on February 10 – or later for those outside the United States.

Letting people go is never easy. But I’m confident it will strengthen our teams and help us build cutting-edge technology to enable the future of human connection.
