Meta last year announced Meta AI, the company’s first virtual assistant based on Generation AI, for Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. At the time, it was powered by the Llama 2 Large Language Model (LLM) and available only in the United States.
Earlier this year, the company upgraded Meta AI with Llama 3 and made it available in more countries, including Australia, Canada, Ghana, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Meta has now launched Meta AI in India.

Meta announced that it has started rolling out Meta AI across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp in India. The company will also make it available on the web at this website. The company’s Gen AI-powered chatbot will be available in the country in English only. At the moment, it is unclear whether Meta will make Meta AI available in applications on these platforms through an update of these or through a server-side change.
