Former and future first lady Melania Trump has signed a stunning $40 million deal with Amazon to license a documentary about her life — with cameos from her husband, Donald, and son, Barron.
The documentary, directed by “Rush Hour” writer Brett Ratner, is expected to be released later this year – as sources tell Page Six that Melania has “become more comfortable” opening up to the public.
“She knows very well what she says… Melania has become more comfortable speaking in front of people and on television,” the source said. “She is more confident and has taken full control of her public image which she knows is worth millions and she is willing to be paid for the work she puts into the documentary and revealing more about herself. “
The high price was first reported by Puck News.
Melania, 54, is executive producer on the project after “insisting on control and approval” – with a little help from the president-elect.
“I was also told that her deal also gave her a share of the back end and that her husband helped structure the project,” the source said, referring to the practice of sharing a film’s profits once production costs have been recovered.
Amazon founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos “apparently took a personal interest in the document,” which our source says “helped him regain friendly terms (with Trump).”
The documentary promises an intimate look into the life of the Slovenia-born first lady – something that is expected to attract major interest due to its private nature, the source said.
“Melania carefully limited and controlled her image and access to her –– which sparked public interest,” this person said. “By being away from constant public exposure and being mysterious, she sparked increased interest in her daily life, which drove up her price.
“She’s inherently private but willing to put to good use what she’s learned from her years as a model and the wife of a marketing master. President Trump fully supports all of his plans.”
Melania gave a written account of her life late last year with the release of her eponymous tome, “Melania,” which became a bestseller.
