The reward-bait film Conclave just received a big pushback from Megyn Kelly, who called it “the most disgusting anti-Catholic movie I’ve seen in a long time.”
Megyn Kelly ripped Conclave in an X-post Sunday morning, revealing the film’s major twist that the new pope is intersex – an individual who has both male and female reproductive organs.
“I just made the huge mistake of watching the very famous ‘Conclave’ and it was the most disgusting anti-Catholic movie I’ve seen in a long time. Shame on Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow for starring in this film and shame on director Edward Berger (among others),” she wrote.
She later added: “I’m disgusted. What a thing to be released on streaming just in time for Christmas. They would never do this to Muslims, but Christians/Catholics are always easy targets to ridicule, belittle or defame. »
Conclavewhich was released by Focus Features, is one of the top films heading into Sunday’s Golden Globes and is also expected to perform well when the Oscar nominations are announced this week.
Based on the novel by Robert Harris, Conclave dramatizes the internal power struggles in the Vatican over the choice of a new pope. Ralph Fiennes plays a cardinal charged with leading the papal conclave.
The intersex plot twist has sparked a lot of discussion online, with various viewers saying it seems random, absurd, and an attempt at wokeness.
