Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, spoke of suffering from postpartum preeclampsia, calling the potentially fatal condition “so rare and so frightening”.
Speaking on the first episode of his new podcast “Confessions of a Female Founder”, published on Tuesday, Meghan described his experience of the condition, which is marked by high blood pressure and high levels of protein in urine or other signs of damage to organs.
Meghan spoke to his friend Whitney Wolfe Herd, founder of the Bumble Dating App, who also experienced postpartum preeclampsia.
“We both had very similar experiences – although we did not know each other at the time – with postpartum and we both had pre -eclampsia. Post -partum preeclampsia,” said Meghan.
“It’s so rare and so scary,” she added.

“And you always try to juggle all these things, and the world does not know what is going on quietly,” said Meghan.
“And in peace, you always try to go to people … mainly for your children, but these things are huge medical fears.”
Wolfe Herd accepted, saying, “I mean life or death, really. It’s like, really scary.”
Most cases of postpartum preeclampsia develop within 48 hours of childbirth, but it can develop four to six weeks after childbirth, according to Mayo Clinic. Postpartum preeclampsia can cause convulsions and other serious complications if it is not treated.
Meghan shares two children with her husband, Prince Harry. Archie was born in May 2019 and Lilibet was born two years later, after the couple resigned from Royals who work.
