Meghan Markle’s father thinks he and King Charles III are one and the same.

Thomas Markle compared himself to the British monarch in a new interview, pointing out that they both struggled with health issues while separated from the Duchess of Sussex and her husband, Prince Harry.

“I would love to talk to him because I’m sure he has as many unanswered questions as I do,” the retired TV lighting director told the Daily Mail on Saturday of Charles, who received a cancer diagnosis in February.

“None of us deserve the treatment we received,” he continued. “He’s undergoing treatment for cancer and I’m not in any better health.”

Thomas, 79, shared that he felt “deep empathy” for Charles, 75, who he said was “in the same boat” as him.

“I have so many questions I’d like to ask Meghan and Harry,” he told the newspaper. “The main one being: why did they treat not only me, but also the royal family and the king so badly?

Ahead of his 80th birthday next month, the Daytime Emmy winner noted that he has yet to meet his grandchildren, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, both born after tarnishing his relationship with Meghan, 42, by staging paparazzi photos just before her royal wedding in 2018.

“They have two grandfathers who want to see them, one of whom is the King of England,” he said. “Never in my 80 years did I think I would be in the same boat as the king.”

Thomas explained that Archie and Lilibet are “getting to the age where they’ll start asking questions,” so he thinks it’s only a matter of time before they “realize all the things they have missed” because of Harry, 39, and Meghan left her royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States.

The former cinematographer said his only wish for his next birthday was to hear from Meghan, even though he knew she “wouldn’t communicate with him.”

“I wish we could have resolved this situation. I have always been ready and willing to do that,” he said despite public criticism of the Sussexes over the years.

Since moving to their native California, Meghan and Harry have remained close to her mother, Doria Ragland, but have avoided seeing or speaking to her father, who has never met his royal son-in-law.

The couple also had limited contact with the prince’s family, who they said was not supportive of their relationship.

Meghan and Harry infamously aired their grievances in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, and he shared more details about his family feud in his 2023 memoir, “Spare.”

Since then, the Invictus Games founder has only seen his father, Charles, and estranged brother, Prince William, a few times during brief trips home to London.
