Although Meghan Markle lives on the other side of the world of her sister and mother-in-law, Kate Middleton and Queen Camilla, the three women share an unusual hobby.
In its new Netflix show, With love, Meghan, Markle reveals a inclination for beekeeping. In a scene from the new show, Markle draws honey from a live hive. “It’s like this little reminder of doing something that scares you a little,” says Markle. “I think that is one of them, but I try to stay calm. Because it’s beautiful to be so connected.”

Also unexpected, beekeeping is a popular hobby among the royal family. Middleton is known to keep bees in the country house of his family, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk. In 2021, during a visit to the London Natural History Museum to promote their urban project, Kate Middleton brought a jar of honey from her hives to make schoolchildren. In 2023, the Middleton office even shared a photo of the princess taking care of her bees. An Instagram post dedicated to World Bees Day Watch Middleton in a beekeeper costume, brushing the bees of a honeycomb frame. The legend said “We are buzzing on #Worldbeeday 🐝. Bees are an essential element of our ecosystem and today is an excellent opportunity to make aware of the essential role that bees and other pollinators play to keep people and the planet healthy.”

Queen Camilla also likes beekeeping. She also has bees in her campaign field, Ray Mill House, Wiltshire. She even sells her honey at the British department store Fortnum & Mason, with all the profits going to Shelterbox, A rescue organization in the event of a disaster that provides shelter and emergency tools.
Markle and Prince Harry moved to California at the beginning of 2020, shortly after leaving their roles of higher members of the royal family. Tensions between the couple and the royal family have since remained high. The last time the three women made a public appearance together was the funeral of Queen Elizabeth in 2022.
