Meghan Markle Completes Her Flowy Summer Ensemble With Her Signature Accessories in Colombia
Duchess Meghan continues her fashion-forward streak on day three of her visit to Colombia with Prince Harry.
Today, the couple visited the Escuela Tambores de Cabildo, a local music school based in the city of Cartagena that trains young people in the art of traditional African drumming. They met with the school’s founder, Rafael Ramos, to participate in a drumming lesson and performance with the students (and the Sussexes even got to dance a little, too). Later, Meghan and Harry spoke with students, parents, and other community members about the importance of programs like the ones offered by the school that help preserve Cartagena’s Afro-Colombian culture and roots, especially amid the city’s increasing gentrification.
During their visit, Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez said Meghan and Harry were public figures who were using their voices and platforms to speak out against injustice. “The Duke and Duchess came to Colombia… this is Colombia. This is where the roots of our ancestors and our forefathers are,” Márquez said. “A community like this cannot be displaced.”
For the festive occasion, Meghan Markle looked radiant in a Johanna Ortiz ensemble featuring a black camisole and flowing black pants, both adorned with a unique striped rope pattern. She completed her look with her brown Aquazzura sandals and a few of her signature accessories, including Cartier’s Juste un Clou necklace.
As for the Duke of Sussex, Harry wore a blue Luca Faloni shirt paired with beige Banana Republic trousers and John Vavartos suede shoes.
Meghan and Harry arrived in Colombia earlier this week at the invitation of Marquez. The four-day trip, which marks their first joint official visit to Colombia, has so far taken them to the capital, Bogotá, and will then take them to Cali.
“In these vibrant locations, they will have the unique opportunity to engage with leaders, youth and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress,” Marquez said in a previous statement. “In addition to these meaningful interactions, The Duke and Duchess will learn about Colombia’s rich heritage.”
The visit marks the Duke and Duchess’ third international trip this year, following previous excursions to Canada in February and Nigeria in May.
