Megan Thee Stallion Flaunts Her ‘Otaku Hot Girl’ Status in New Single From Jujutsu Kaisen Anime

Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion, who dropped a harsh anime-themed banger, may not have been on your 2024 bingo, but the artist still managed to pull it off tirelessly.

Megan Thee Stallion has often passionately expressed her love for anime.

However, its journey to the final release day hasn’t been all sunshine and roses; instead, Stallion nearly lost the essence of his new single, “Otaku Hot Girl,” which is full of anime references.

As an avid anime fan herself, Megan was likely on Cloud 9 working on this track, which features on her third studio album, MEGAN. While the hit music star lived up to her status as a loyal anime enthusiast, she was forced to edit the track just days before its release date, which was June 28.

She took the opportunity to speak her truth to fans on an Instagram Live ahead of the release. The song not only heavily references iconic anime characters like Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK)’s Satoru Gojo, Yuji Itadori, his supervillain Sukuna, and Naruto’s Sasuke; it also directly samples the commercial jingle from the hit series, which has earned its rightful title as one of Gen Z’s most in-demand anime shows.

But what is ultimately most interesting in this situation is that Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, also uses English actor Adam McArthur, the voice actor for JJK protagonist Yuji Itadori, who starts the song with an unexpected verse: “I like tall women with a big ass (Haha) / I say it like that / Like Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion.” »

Why Megan Thee Stallion had to redo her song even though it was cleared earlier

During her Instagram broadcast, Stallion said she had to “jump through eight million hoops” to get the right deal with production company MAPPA Studios, which brought the legendary anime to life.

Once she sent them the song for approval, they told her, “OK, you need to change a few words,” Stallion detailed on social media.

So she accepted the requests and followed through. However, the company then commented, “Okay, if you’re making a music video for this song, you can’t cosplay any of the characters from the show.” Stallion did everything she could to appease the animation studio because she really wanted the song.

Subsequently, she designed the song accordingly. Megan claimed her self-titled album was already “done” and ready for release. Nonetheless, his team received an email just days before his record’s release, stating: “You can either get the music clearance or you can get the name clearance.” ” Stallion expressed his frustration playfully, but the truth was obviously visible.

She screamed, “Remove the names of the characters that are in the show? (screams) That’s the whole song! (screams) It makes the song meaningful.” Although Stallion expressed gratitude to MAPPA for sending her a snippet of the anime’s commercial song without complaint, she couldn’t help but exclaim in pain when they asked her to “change the names one day before the album release.”

Despite the ominous email reminder, Megan still raps on the song: “Ayy, you can’t touch me like Gojo… I fight demons in my head like I’m Itadori.” She also alludes to other anime-inspired terms.

Following up her 2022 album “Traumazine,” “MEGAN” includes a total of 10 songs. “Otaku Hot Girl” is listed as the seventh track on the album.

Earlier this year, Megan also participated in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards as a presenter.
