A 93 -year -old widow who now lives in a care center with dementia still refuses to sell her house alongside the Masters golf course, despite a swollen price worth millions of national owners in Augusta.
Since 1999, the owners of the historic golf tournament have won their range of 270 additional acres after escaping $ 200 million (157 million pounds Sterling) on Augusta Properties, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Transactions increased the total size of the 75% golf club land – and helped most of the sellers of extremely rich properties.
And yet, located a stone’s throw away from the place where the best golfers in the world will pass on to the 2025 tournament this week, 1112 Stanley Road remains under the property of Elizabeth Thacker and his family, which built the property in 1959.
Elizabeth and her late husband Herman, who died in 2019 at the age of 86, repeatedly rejected seven -figures from Augusta National for their home, which is now through door 6 and is still standing despite the damage caused by the storms of Hurricane Helene last year.
Despite her move in a care house, Elizabeth does not intend to sell and intends to keep the house with three -room unpretentious in his family, imperturbable and impassive by the Masters Millions after having become the sole occupant six years ago.
Herman Thacker, who died in 2019, and his wife Elizabeth built 1112 Stanley Road in 1959 and saw their neighborhood slowly disappear while refusing to sell their house

His late husband Golf, Herman, previously presented a similar stubbornness when asked why they planned to keep the property in 2016, saying to NJ.com: “Money is not all”.
If it was located elsewhere, the house was worth only $ 400,000 estimated (£ 311,000) – but that does not take into account the unrivaled opportunity of the property of a floor, if you are a golf fan.
The district surrounding the 1112 Stanley Road was bought and Bulldozer to make room for the show which attracts around 40,000 fans each year.
The national owners of Augusta had planned to demolish the house of Thacker to make room for an additional parking.
The grandson and professional golfer of Elizabeth and Scott Brown, who grew up in the house, opened this week on the persistent refusal of his family to sell the house, just a few days before the Masters 2025 was taken away on Thursday.
Addressing the Telegraph, he said: “Basically, they had 11 months of intimacy because everything else was bought.
“They would only push the question of” should we sell? “And, anyway, they could never find anywhere that they wanted to go. They fell in love with the place.
The family, however, recovered a considerable sum of a second smaller property nearby where Brown lived during his years at university – and was rewarded for their patience.

Although the national owners of Augusta began by taking properties for sales in hundreds of thousands, they finally increased the offers.
The thackers ended up selling the neighboring house for $ 1.2 million (£ 935,000).
“The best thing as they (Elizabeth and Herman) have never done is to hold because some of the original offers have been quite laughable compared to what the last houses were,” said Brown.
“I think it started at a few hundred thousand and some ended up entering millions.
“He (Herman) took care of me with clubs and bullets, took me to all tournaments and I loved looking at me playing.
“Each year, they had tickets for the Masters and one of our traditions went there on Sunday, seated over 16 years and watching each group pass. We did it for 18 years until I became pro.
Brown, 41, who is now outside the Golf Top 2000, increased up to 107 in the world ranking after winning Puerto Rico 2013 before the finalist of Jordan Spieth. He also finished 13th at the PGA championships in 2017.
But in competition at the Masters, a few steps from the charming house in his family, was unfortunately an opportunity that escaped him.

Herman once said a journalist: “Money is not all”, when they were asked why they did not sell

If it was located elsewhere, the Thacker house was only worth knowing $ 400,000

The Masters 2025 launched Thursday, with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McILroy the favorites
“I would say that the biggest fall in my career is not to play in the masters because that’s all I have ever dreamed of my whole life,” he added.
“My grandfather would have loved it, but I just won a tournament that didn’t bring you.
“It’s not like that was all I think, but I would have really liked to play one.”
