The White House on February 25, 2025, appointed Amy Gleason as an acting administrator of the White House office following weeks of confusion on which the agency led.
A White House official confirmed the role of Gleason to Business Insider. Gleason then updated his LinkedIn to reflect his new title. According to her profile, she is “the acting administrator” of the United States Doge Service since February 2025.
Although relatively unknown before climbing to the summit of the Ministry of Effectiveness of the Government, former colleagues told Bi that Gleason, 53 She worked as a data cruncher at the United States Digital Service, the Obama era agency that President Donald Trump has renamed the American Dogey service, from October 2018 to December 2021 according to his LinkedIn. She helped create data reports on the coronavirus in 2020 and 2021 and returned to the agency in January 2025.
Gleason was a health framework based in Florida. A former colleague told Bi that she was known as “The Green Dot” because of her tendency to stay online the work messaging system after midnight, to connect again to Daybreak.
“It is a nice and sweet person, but it is just a superhuman with regard to the work product,” said Travis Bond, the former CEO of Caresync, a Florida medical technology startup where Gleason was a frame until it was closed in 2018.
Its history in the private sector are both riding and diverge other Doge employees. She started as a nurse, according to an appearance in the podcast in 2022 with the company’s syllable. Gleason also talked about the podcast of his experience in coordination of care after his daughter was diagnosed with a rare disease.
“The rest of my career is mainly electronic medical records until I started as an emergency infirmot,” said Gleason on the podcast. Obama’s White House honored Gleason as a “change champion” for his work in the space of medical records.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Gleason has held higher positions in a variety of health care companies since the late 1990s. One of these companies, Caresync, was involved in legal controversy, but Gleason was not an important part of the costume.
LinkedIn de Gleason indicates that she worked as Russell Street Ventures product manager between November 2021 and December 2024, an investment company in the health industry founded by Brad Smith, which BI previously identified as a Doge employee. Kendall Lindemann, which BI has also identified as working for Doge effort, also worked at Russell Street Ventures.
Some of the USDs were surprised by the appointment of Gleason as an interim administrator. Jonathan Kamens, a former USDS engineer who was dismissed on February 14, and a current USDS employee both declared to Bi that Gleason had joined the agency between the elections and the inauguration.
“In our opinion, she was as surprised by things that came out of Doge as the rest of us,” said the current employee. They said they hadn’t considered it “part of Musk’s crew”.
Kamens told Bi that he “does not presume that she is she who holds the real power over Doge, just because she was officially named this role”.
Although Elon Musk is closely associated with the Doge Office, the White House previously declared in a legal file that he was not the leader of the group and serves as a principal advisor to Trump. Bi previously reported that the title of Musk had been written as “unlissed” in a white house record.
For weeks, the White House had refused to say if there was a DOGE administrator – not to mention it. Trump created the position on the day of the inauguration. He had previously declared that Musk would direct the Doge Office, although Musk was never appointed to the post, and his comments on the role of Musk during a speech in March 2025 sparked legal controversy.
The representatives of the White House, Elon Musk, Doge and Gleason did not respond to requests for BI comments.
