McDonald’s Adds New ‘Grandma McFlurry’ to Menus Nationwide – NBC Chicago

Last year it was the Grimace Shake. This year, it’s a new McFlurry… or maybe an older one?

The limited-edition treat, called the “Grandma McFlurry,” will be available at McDonald’s restaurants in Chicago and beyond on May 21, a press release states. The dessert, according to the release, was created with the special lady in mind, saying the Chicago-based burger chain is a proven place to take her grandchildren.

“McDonald’s is where unforgettable memories are made with Grandma,” the release said. Whether it’s treating us to an impromptu dessert or letting us have dessert first, grandmas always know how to make us feel special,” the release said. “And now it’s her turn. “

The new McFlurry flavor features “chopped, crunchy pieces of candy (like Grandma’s favorite threat she hid in her purse),” the release says, mixed with a “delicious” syrup and soft-serve ice cream vanilla.

“Grandma McFlurry feels like a trip down memory lane, and we’re excited to bring that experience to our fans while honoring the grandmother figure in our lives,” said Tariq Hassan, director of marketing and customer experience at McDonald’s in the press release. .

A photo of Grandma McFlurry, provided by McDonald’s, shows the drink in a red, white and pink cup, with a McDonald’s logo atop what appears to be a doyly. Under the logo, we can see the signature “XOXO, Grandma”.

This new treat is the latest addition to the burger chain’s menu. During a recent earnings conference call, executives said burgers would soon be bigger and “more filling.” McDonald’s will also be offering a $5 meal value for a limited time.

Last month, the chain announced it would add a new McCrispy chicken sandwich to menus for a limited time. Earlier this year, the chain announced it would start selling Krispy Kreme donuts at breakfast time as part of a new partnership.

Earlier this year, McDonald’s brought back the fan-favorite burger, “The Double Big Mac.” It also plans to phase out self-serve beverage machines in restaurants nationwide.

Last year, the chain launched a mysterious spinoff restaurant called “CosMcs” in suburban Bolingbrook.
