McCarthy orders immediate investigation after Trump’s next arrest

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on Saturday called for an immediate investigation following former President Donald Trump’s claim that he will be arrested next week on the basis of “unlawful leaks from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

“Here we go again – an outrageous abuse of power by a radical prosecutor who lets violent criminals walk as he pursues his political revenge against President Trump,” McCarthy said.

“I call on the appropriate committees to immediately investigate whether federal funds are being used to subvert our democracy by interfering in elections with politically motivated prosecutions,” the speaker added:

McCarthy’s call for an investigation followed Trump making waves, explaining on Truth Social that he believed he would be arrested following what he described as ‘illegal leaks’ from the district attorney’s office. of Manhattan — a reference to the case of Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. linked to porn star Stormy Daniels and the claim that Trump pressured his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, to make “silent” payments to Daniels on Trump’s behalf.

Trump wrote:

A Trump spokesperson clarified that there had been “no notification, other than unlawful leaks from the Justice Department and the prosecutor’s office, to NBC and other bogus media, that the Democratic prosecutor radical leftist funded by George Soros in Manhattan has decided to take its witch hunt to the next level.

“President Trump rightly points out his innocence and the weaponization of our system of injustice. He will be in Texas next weekend for a giant rally. Make America Great Again!” the spokesperson added.

However, the rumor mill has conservatives at all levels rallying behind Trump and speaking out against the politicization of the justice system:
