May 8 Nail Colors to Try Now

The month of May is synonymous with dynamism. The sky is blue, the flowers are in bloom and our days are finally filled with color again. As such, relying on bright, saturated nail polishes is not only fun but appropriate.

“Garden tones, as I like to call them, are amazing for the month of May,” says Hannah Lee, a manicurist who works with Sally Hansen. “Vibrant oranges, greens and pretty pinks are perfect spring manicures to welcome the warmer weather.”

Below, check out eight energetic May nail shades that are sure to be everywhere this spring.

Explosive pink

Celebrity manicurist Gina Edwards is a big fan of Bio Seaweed Gel’s Flamingo ($18). “This explosive pink continues to shine in the Barbie pink trend,” says Edwards. “This color takes more inspiration from the world of neon and is the perfect gateway to warm weather.”

Almost Coral

As we move past the pastel peaches of early spring, we dive into deeper oranges that flicker against the coral. “Poppy’n Fresh ($10) is a beautiful vibrant orange with coral tones,” says Lee. “This shade is great if you want an eye-catching pop of color.” You can also opt for darker shades that have a terracotta vibe for a more earthy look, like Dior’s Rouge Cinéma ($32)

Lime green

“Greens are in,” says Edwards. “Even if you’re not a huge fan of green, like me, Morgan Taylor’s Flying Out Loud ($7) tends to be more fun and more wearable. It’s a lime green with a subtle yellow undertone.”

Red Geranium

@gossipandgloss

“I love bright red to mark the start of spring,” says Rose. “Essie’s shade Geranium ($10) is the perfect fiery red that suits everyone.”

Jeans

@disseynails

“Manhattan’s It girls are wearing blue nails this spring,” says Rose. Her favorite shade is Lagune ($32) by Chanel. The shade looks especially pretty when paired with cream, notes Sapiens. She loves Gucci’s Marcia Cobalt ($34) ($35, pictured above). “Cream and blue nails instantly make me think of summer vacations in Europe; I love this color combination,” says Sapiens.

Pinkish purple

If you still love the pink energy of Barbiemania but want to venture into different colors, go for a bright purple with pink undertones. It’s a fun and playful shade, perfect for May. The look above features Exposed ($18) by Luxio.
