- McLaren has set the standard on the track so far in the one 2025 formula season
- Max Verstappen produced a performance that engineers described as “crazy”
- Lewis Hamilton was again frustrated because his Ferrari car was missing rhythm
Max Verstappen overcome doubts about his car to produce a sparkling turn and claim pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday.
Until now, the whole conversation in 2025 has been on the domination of McLaren, but the Dutch has drawn a reminder of its own title titles by pricking Lando Norris to Pole.
Verstappen seemed to surprise himself with the Tour that he managed to produce a weekend where Red Bull generally fought for the pace.
Earlier in the day, during the third try, Verstappen complained about the lack of taking in its front tires.
But he managed to put these complaints on one side to secure the post in Suzuka for the fourth consecutive year.

Verstappen said, “We tried the best we could to get the best possible balance of the car. Each session that we continued to make few improvements and that is what made the difference.
The first Pacesetter Norris championships were only 0.012 seconds behind Verstappen but conceded that his rival had produced a special round.
“Congratulations to Max, he did a good job,” said Norris, whose teammate, Oscar Piastri will start third. “I’m happy, I feel like I’ve got out of the car today.
It was a bad day, however, for Lewis Hamilton who could only qualify eighth, only two places ahead of the young Brit Oliver Bearman, who was released from the third quarter for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, Liam Lawson responded to his downside of Red Bull after only two races of the 2025 season by surpassing Yuki Tsunoda, the man who sat down.
Tsunoda had maintained contact with his new teammate Verstappen, but his pace disappeared in the second quarter. He will start the 15th with Lawson a place further.
