Max Verstappen could leave Red Bull Racing soon if the team does not solve its car problems, according to the former F1 driver and Expert Ralf Schumacher. He thinks that Verstappen “will certainly leave” if the great Red Bull upgrades provide for the next Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna does not work.
Red Bull was unable to get the right car and this affects the chances of Verstappen to win the pilot championship. If Verstappen decides to leave Red Bull, Schumacher thinks that Aston Martin is the team he could then join.
“I am almost sure that if the upgrade of the car does not take effect by Imola and that the new engine (for 2026) does not work as well, Max Verstappen will certainly leave the team. You can see the difference it does, you must absolutely get this pilot, and everyone wants to have it” Sky Germany.
“A greater adventure awaits Verstappen in Aston Martin. With Adrian Newey, whom he knows very well, he also knows Honda very well, and (there is) also a new factory that has a future,” he added.
Verstappen started the 2025 season in the hope of winning his fifth consecutive championship, just like Michael Schumacher. But after only four races, things seem already difficult for the reigning champion. At the Bahrain Grand Prix recently concluded, Verstappen obtained sixth place, while his teammate Yuki Tsunoda finished ninth.
Tensions rising inside Red Bull
Even if Verstappen won the Japanese Grand Prix with an incredible trip to pole position, things did not stay good for a long time. During the next race in Bahrain, Red Bull went again. After the race, the manager of Verstappen, Raymond Vermeulen, was seen with the adviser to Red Bull, Helmut Marko, showing that tensions increase inside the team.
Marko said later German television This “concern is great” on the possibility that Verstappen leaves Red Bull the following season.
Why Aston Martin?
If Verstappen leaves, Aston Martin could be where he finds himself. The team improved quickly, and with a good deal with Honda, the company that made Red Bull engines, they become an attractive option for the best pilots like Verstapun.
