Tampa – Before Max Fried could really lose his boost, he was lost for him in the middle of the eighth.
While Fried jogging in the mound for the bottom of the eighth working on an offer without cut in seven -rounds, the official scorer announced a controversial change of score to give the Rays his first sure blow of the day.
At the bottom of the sixth, Chandler Simpson had struck a bullet on the ground of the first base that Paul Goldschmidt could not move cleanly.
Speedy Simpson broke out on the line and may have beaten Fried there if Goldschmidt had handled him, but the game was marked with an error on Goldschmidt.

Fried’s day ended two strikers later, launching 7 ⅓ strong sleeves on two strokes and two walks and leaving with a runner first.
