The season of Dallas Mavericks is over after the Memphis Grizzlies dominated them during the final game, beating the Mavericks 120-106 Friday evening in Memphis.
Grizzlies will be the eighth seeded of the West and will face the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Mavericks will return home.
Anthony Davis led all the scorers with 40 points, while salient in nine rebounds, but it was not enough. Davis also left the match halfway through the fourth quarter with a leg injury. Davis was fighting through various ailments all night – throughout the match, he was seen while holding his legs left and right, as well as his median section.
Memphis jumped on Dallas early and it was never really so close. Grizzlies feasted in transition, turning the mavericks early and running constantly to get ahead of the double-Big Mavericks range. It was almost impossible for the Big Mavericks to keep the edge because Memphis was in transition in the blink of an eye after a turnover or a missed shot. The Grizzlies led 39-24 after the first quarter.
Quite funny, it was really all the grizzleas. The rest of the districts were closely disputed, but due to the hardness of Memphis, Dallas early, they simply maintained an advance of 15-20 apparently all night.
The only glow of hope for Dallas was an 8-0 race to finish the second quarter, which kept the head at a respectable 17 instead of something worse. This race extended to a sequence of 17-2 at the start of the third quarter. Once the Mavericks were able to play in the half-terrain, they were able to thwart the grizzly momentum. Dallas had the chance to reduce the advance of the third half of the third, but missed a three. Memphis regained his balance and closed the third quarter of 18. It was the death kick, especially once Davis left the match halfway through the fourth quarter.
We can all go from this miserable astonishment of a season
It’s over. It’s over. The Mavericks 2024-2025 will not play another match this season, perhaps capping the most feeling season in the history of professional sports. Fortunately, Dallas fans can try not to think of the Mavericks.
I know it sounds weird, but everyone needs a break. Players, fans, team employees, media, broadcasters, marketing specialists, video producers – all of us. The trade of Luka Doncic was so stupid catastrophically that he exploded an entire organization during the night, and while for the most part, the two main responsible people hidden in the eyes of the public, the rest of us is left picking up the parts or having to protect the team from this horrible decision, whether someone loves it or not.
Do you know who really needs a break? Nico Harrison and the owner of Mavericks, Patrick Dumont. These two need permanent breaks in the basketball game. Perhaps a life ban.
I don’t remember a season as horrible as that. So many fans that I know personally no longer want to watch the team. It sucks. Although the season is over and this represents a little suspended, Donic and the Lakers start their race in the playoffs this weekend. None of this will be easier.
This game was a good summary of post-coming mavericks: they never really abandoned, they especially played hard, but they are always stinking. Memphis is a team that can only really get it into transition and play quickly, so the Mavericks have not protected the ball and let the grizzly grizzlewind on the fast break. From there, he was never really so close, although the Mavericks are not completely completely returned. Again, they play hard and they never left coach Jason Kidd. But the list was naked to holy hell and there is no return.
Anthony Davis avoid it and put 40 years, but also having to leave the match in the fourth quarter was a prefiguration almost too much on the nose of what the next era of basketball Mavericks will look like for the next three to four years, unless Dumont finally draws the Ripcord on the reign of Harrison.
I don’t really have much else for all of you. I am tired, and this season has made irreparable damage to my desires to continue to be a person in the media who covers the Mavericks. We will continue to plug for the moment. All of them on the other side.
