Mauricio Pochettino FUMES at Chelsea duo for trying to take away Cole Palmer penalty and warns they’ll be ‘out’ if they do it again as embarrassing on-pitch row overshadows Everton’s 6-0 defeat .

Cole Palmer destroyed Everton with a four-goal scoreline that reignited Chelsea’s fight for a European place, but manager Mauricio Pochettino said the sensational victory was marred by the sight of his players arguing over who should take a penalty.

Everton endured a very embarrassing evening as Palmer scored a perfect hat-trick in the space of 16 minutes. He then added his fourth goal from a kick, but only after a remarkable argument broke out between Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke.

Palmer eventually moved down to tie with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland on 20 goals at the top of the Premier League scoring charts, with Jackson and academy starlet Alfie Gilchrist also getting on the scoresheet.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino wanted to start his post-match press conference by discussing this penalty saga rather than the victory itself, even warning Jackson and Madueke that they risked being sacked if they dared to try again.

“First of all, I want to tell you to clarify that they know, the players know, the staff know, the club knows that the taker on penalties is Cole Palmer,” Pochettino said, having previously resisted publicly name a designated shooter. It’s a shame.

Mauricio Pochettino has described the incident surrounding Chelsea’s penalty against Arsenal as “unacceptable”.

Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson both attempted to snatch the ball from Cole Palmer after the referee pointed to the spot.

“I am so upset by this situation. We were talking in the locker room about the image we send because it’s Monday night football and in every country they were watching the game. We cannot send this type of image. It’s a shame and I want to apologize to the people of football and our supporters because it is unacceptable.

Palmer added: “Other players wanted to take him, which was understandable. I am the penalty taker and I wanted to take it. We’re just trying to show everyone that we want to take responsibility. Maybe the argument was overblown. We laughed and joked about it.

It was Everton’s first appearance since being stripped of two extra points last week – which they appealed against yesterday – and Sean Dyche was furious afterwards.

Conor Gallagher eventually restored order and Palmer maintained his perfect record at 12 yards.

Dyche said: “It was a horrible night, without a shadow of a doubt. We were miles away from the intention and desire to win a game. You have to give strength, apply tackle.

“They were dancing around us. Too many mistakes. Too many players are far from the mark. We can’t play like that in a place like this. Six great matches.

Everton defender James Tarkowski added: “It’s the most embarrassed I’ve felt as an individual. We can only apologize to the fans who supported us. It’s down to the players. That is not about the manager and the staff. No excuses from us. We have to question ourselves because we have a busy few weeks ahead. We have conceded six goals and you should feel embarrassed.
