However, a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth in their final Premier League game of the season saw the Blues finish the campaign in a more respectable sixth place.

As a result, Chelsea will definitely play in Europe next season with a confirmed Europa Conference League place, while it could turn into a Europa League place if Manchester City beat Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Although European football is confirmed, it remains to be seen whether Pochettino will be the man to lead them next season, but speaking after the season finale, Pochettino suggested he hopes he has done enough to stay .

Asked about an end-of-season meeting with the owners, he said: “I don’t know if it’s going to happen or not. I have no idea.

“All I can tell you is that Friday night Todd invited me to dinner and it was a really nice dinner together. But I’m not aware of the rumors about the review.

“Tomorrow, my colleagues are flying on vacation. I’m going to stay in London for a few more days.

“I’m always open. My phone will be on.”

Asked what they discussed at the dinner, Pochettino replied: “I’m not going to explain it. It’s just so you know I was with him. I’m not going to talk about that.

“If I invite you and you and I have dinner, it’s not for bad things. I don’t believe it.”

Chelsea capped off their strong end to the 2023/24 season with a 2-1 home win over the Cherries.

They took the lead with their goal of the season as Moises Caicedo incredibly found the net from the halfway line.

Raheem Sterling doubled their lead shortly after the break, but the away side reduced the deficit when Benoit Badiashile converted the ball into his own net, but Chelsea held on for the win.

The season has been full of setbacks for Chelsea, but their form towards the end of the campaign suggests that next season will be much better.
