Matthew Muller: Convicted Vallejo kidnapper and rapist faces kidnapping and ransom charges in San Ramon

SAN RAMON, Calif. (KGO) — Matthew Muller, the convicted kidnapper and rapist in the Denise Huskins/Aaron Quinn Vallejo case – who was featured in a Netflix documentary series last year – now faces additional charges for a kidnapping case in the unincorporated town of San Ramon.

This alleged kidnapping occurred in 2015, the same year as the Vallejo case.

Matthew Muller, 47, who is currently serving a 40-year federal prison sentence for the 2015 kidnapping and rape of Denise Huskins, now faces three new kidnapping charges in Contra Costa County.

These stem from a separate case that occurred in 2015 in unincorporated San Ramon.

“People thought it was an isolated, bizarre crime in the Vallejo case, that Muller obviously had mental health issues, but now it appears he is a serial sexual predator and prosecutors are are vigorously pursuing,” said legal analyst Steven Clark.

Muller was also in a San Jose courtroom last week after being charged with two counts of sexual assault in two 2009 home invasion cases.

“I think the message is that we don’t forget rape, murder, or any crime that happened in this county,” said Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen.

One of those cases occurred in Mountain View and another in Palo Alto.

“This victim has a right to redress. This victim has a right to confront Mr. Muller about how he changed his life. All of this explains why prosecutors continue to pursue Muller even when he is behind bars.” Clark said.

In the San Ramon case that we just learned about, the Contra Costa prosecutor claims that Muller illegally held two men and a woman for ransom in the spring of 2015. He demanded that “one of these three withdraw dozens of thousands of dollars from his bank. account to obtain the release of others. That’s exactly what they did and the victims never reported the crime, fearing that Muller would come back for them.

The prosecutor goes on to say that Muller confessed to the crime during their correspondence with him last year.

All of this comes after the release of the Netflix documentary series “American Nightmare,” in which Muller’s actions in Vallejo against Huskins and her now-husband Aaron Quinn were depicted.

When Denise Huskins was kidnapped, she was taken to South Lake Tahoe. On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Huskins and Quinn will both be with the El Dorado County District Attorney when he speaks about some of these new cases.
