SAN RAMON, Calif. (KGO) — We hope to learn more about new charges against a man convicted of a notorious kidnapping in Vallejo a decade ago.
Matthew Muller, 47, faces new charges in Contra Costa County for a crime that investigators say left the victims so scared they never reported it.
Muller is already serving a 40-year federal prison sentence for the 2015 kidnapping and rape of Denise Huskins of Vallejo.
In the latest case, the Contra Costa District Attorney alleges Muller illegally held two men and a woman for ransom in the spring of 2015.
The prosecutor says Muller confessed to the crime during their correspondence with him last year.
“People thought it was a bizarre, isolated crime in the Vallejo case, that Muller obviously had mental health issues, but now it appears he is a serial sexual predator and prosecutors are are vigorously pursuing,” said legal analyst Steven Clark.
This all comes after the release of the Netflix documentary series “American Nightmare” detailing the Vallejo case.
Huskins and her husband Aaron Quinn are expected to attend a news conference with the El Dorado County District Attorney as he holds a news conference in Seaside.
He is expected to explain how the reinvestigation of the case led to the filing of new criminal charges.
