Matt LaFleur: It’s a tough lesson, I hope we learn from it

The games were played in two different countries, but the Packers ended their season the same way they started it.

They lost to the Eagles in Brazil in Week 1 and they lost again to Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon in the NFC Wild Card game. They committed a series of turnovers and penalties while suffering several injuries before posting a 22-10 final score that kept them from advancing to the divisional round for the second straight season.

While it was a disappointing result, head coach Matt LaFleur said he hopes the way things unfolded will serve as a foundation for future success.

“Yeah, I think it just goes to show you, like, the importance of having these home games, in my opinion,” LaFleur said, via an Eagles transcript. “We have a really tough division, and you know, I hope our guys use that as fuel this offseason to dig a little deeper and come back a little better, each individually, because collectively it’s going to make a huge difference. Obviously , we’ll comb through everything I think it was, you know, we still have a young football team I’m not making excuses or anything like that. , unfortunately, this is a hard lesson in along the way I hope we can use this as fuel to improve, learn and become a better team next year.

Winning home playoff games will require winning the division, which is a difficult task when the Lions and Vikings are also in the NFC North. The Packers will have to compete with and outlast these teams to advance, however, and getting to that point will be their offseason priority.
