Mater dei Volleyball up, ends in the title of the Trinity League

Santa Ana – A few weeks ago, the boys’ volleyball team Mater Dei barely oscillated above the bar .500.

Now, the monarchs are in the leading position to win a very coveted berth in the Division 1 support of the CIF-SS qualifying series and perform a deep race in the playoffs.

Mater Dei swept Santa Margarita, 25-21,25-22, 25-15, Friday evening to remain undefeated in the Trinity League game.

The monarchs (20-10-2, 6-0) were led by 6-6 Jack Jadon, who succeeded in 14 striking attacks. Jadon also collected four blocks and three ASs.

Mater dei coach Jake Nuneviller attributes to the Best of West tournament in early March as a key point of the monarch season.

“The best of the West was enormous for us, because it gave us the opportunity to play a lot of matches in a short period of time,” he said, “and that gave us the opportunity to build a certain chemistry, which gave coaches the opportunity to see where our holes were and we really worked, very hard.”

“I think we are working harder than any program that I have ever been associated with,” said Nuneviller. “There could be teams that have more talent than us, there are more teams that have more talent than us, it is not in the question, but we work very hard.”

Nuneviller said that his goals for the team include a championship championship with a perfect record of 10-0 and to win a place in division 1 when the playoffs start on April 30.

“I think we are doing the right time,” said Nuneviller, “and I hope we can get enough victories to enter this division 1 (support), but the algorithm scares me. I think that with a committee, everyone would put us in the Top 8, but that the algorithm makes me nervous. But I think I think I can get together.

Key actors like Ben Smith, Jaremiah Potasi and Dylan Gallagher led the Jake Newman sector is among the country’s leaders in assists.

Regarding intangible assets, Jadon has a huge impact on his team.

“Jack was a transfer (from Mira Costa last season),” said Nuneviller. “It was such a gift, and it is gifted in the sense that it is great, right? “He’s a very good blocker and it’s huge,” added the coach. “The best guys from everyone are outside, most of them, so having a good strong block there is huge. He was great for us. He kills the ball, serves hard, he has a good jump service, quite coherent and he has a nice touch, like his touch on his platform on the ball is great. He is a good stable player for us.”

Mater Dei will face the Servite on Wednesday April 9 in a Trinity League match and will be able to win a part of the Trinity League title with a victory.

Nuneviller highlights the importance of travel as the monarchs go towards their last push in the campaign.

“A match at a time, guy,” he said. “Everyone looks at the situation as a whole, and I learned this in recent years, you must like to get there. And seize all the occasions you get to compete at a high level against some of the best teams in the country, and I think we are one of the best teams in the country.”
