Mater Dei and JSerra remain in the lead, February 12 – Orange County Register

This week’s Orange County high school basketball rankings.

To note this week: No. 1 Mater Dei and No. 2 JSerra both lost their Open Division playoff games last week, but aren’t falling in the rankings due to the quality of the teams in this elite playoff bracket. … No. 6 Pacifica Christian and No. 7 Fairmont Prep were surprising losers in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs.

1. Mater Dei 26-3: The Monarques couldn’t keep up with the speed of St. Piux X-St. Matthias during their 76-54 loss in a CIF-SS Open Division pool match. The Monarchs return home against JSerra on Tuesday.

2. JSerra 24-5: The Lions’ offense has stalled a bit lately, including their 64-51 loss to Eastvale Roosevelt in the Open Division playoffs. The Lions play Tuesday at Mater Dei. The teams split their two Trinity League matches.
